Normalized commercial rate data — facility and professional components, cross-referenced to CMS fee schedules — available for research, analytics, and product development.
What is licensed
Junto's normalized rate dataset, derived from hospital price transparency filings under the 2021 CMS final rule. The dataset covers:
- Outpatient facility rates for covered procedures, referenced to CMS OPPS APC groupings.
- Professional component rates where filed, referenced to CMS Physician Fee Schedule RVUs by specialty.
- Commercial payer identification derived from filing content.
- Hospital identifiers (NPI, EIN, legal name, market), procedure codes, and filing period.
The dataset does not include CPT code description text. That is a CMS/AMA licensing matter separate from the rate data.
What licensing avoids
Building a price-transparency analysis pipeline is months of engineering: schema normalization across hundreds of filing formats, NPI-to-EIN resolution, payer deduplication, CMS reference cross-walk, quality filtering. Licensing the normalized output avoids that work.
The dataset is delivered in query-ready form — no file parsing, no format negotiation, no deduplication work.

Limitations
- Rate data derives from hospital price transparency filings; accuracy depends on filing quality.
- Commercial payer identity is based on the filing — confidential contract designations are not resolved.
- Professional component availability varies by hospital and filing period.
- CPT code descriptions are not included in the licensed dataset; licensees must hold or obtain their own CPT license.
- The dataset supports analysis of what rates are filed; it does not establish what any payer should pay.
